Edward Mallory Almond was born on December 12, 1892 in Luray, Virginia. He graduated VMI in 1915. He was a Lieutenant General in the United States Army and a member of the VMI Board of Visitors. Almond died on June 11, 1979 in Anniston, Alabama, and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia.
The Edward M. Almond papers include transcripts of two oral history interviews with Almond. The first interview was conducted by J. Addison Hagan on January 20, 1967, and concerns the Inchon Operation during the Korean War. The second interview was conducted by Captain Thomas F. Fergusson in March 1975. The papers also include photographs and documents.
