Biographical / Historical

James David Darden was born in 1845 in Southampton County, Virginia. He graduated VMI in 1867 and was a New Market cadet. He went on to be a merchant and died in 1899 in Southampton County.

Scope and Contents

The James D. Darden papers consist of the Darden's Civil War papers, including: Two military orders (dated February 28 and March 21, 1865) signed by Darden One Confederate States of America 5 dollar bill One list of clothing signed by Darden One bank note dated March 9th, 1865 One typescript biographical sketch titled "Record of J. D. Darden"
