Joseph DeJarnette Dew was born in 1912 in Spottsylvania County, Virginia. In February 1931, Joseph D. Dew and William F. Ramson (VMI Class of 1932) secured jobs as deck hands on a freighter and worked their way to Europe. Dew graduated VMI in 1934. During World War II he was a Captain in the United States Army. After the War he was an investment broker. Dew died in 1968 in Charlottesville, Virginia.
