Biographical Note

George W. Walker was born in Virginia in 1843. In 1872, he married Emma Wysor. They had at least eleven children. He taught for 23 years at public and private schools in Pulaski County, Va, and taught for 12 years at V.P.I. Walker died in North Carolina in 1910.

J. Ernest Walker was born in Virginia in 1873. He was an older son of George W. Walker who moved to Arizona at 11 and became successful in the real estate business.

Scope and Content

This collection contains a photocopy of a letter from J. Ernest Walker to his father, Professor George W. Walker regarding his experiences in the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and fire, as well as a copy of a newspaper clipping about J. Ernest Walker's real estate business. The collection also includes a photocopy of an image of Col. John E. Walker and photograph and obituary of George W. Walker.
