Louisa Clarinda Egerton Cameron (1846-1908) of Petersburg, Virginia married future Virginia governor William Evelyn Cameron (1842-1927) on October 1, 1868, in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and they eventually had three children. William fought for the Confederacy during the American Civil War, and he later served as a Republican governor of Virginia from 1882 to 1886. During his tenure, he repealed the poll tax that disenfranchised African American voters.

This collection contains a two volume scrapbook kept by future First Lady of Virginia, Louisa Egerton Cameron (1846-1908) from Petersburg, Virginia, during the American Civil War. The scrapbooks contain newspaper clippings, Confederate currency, poetry, and stories collected by Cameron from 1861-1863.
