Velma Hartsock Alderman, was the mother of retired Virginia Tech employee, Nancy Orange. Nancy Orange served on staff at Virginia Tech for 20 years and retired in 1997.

This collection contains a scrapbook and newspaper clippings created by Velma H. Alderman, mother of former Virginia Tech professor Nancy Orange. Most news clippings are from the 1950s and pertain to Radford, Virginia. Topics included in these clippings are murders, suicides, Korean War articles, and disasters like fires. There is also a postcard with a drawing of George Washington on horseback.
