Biographical Note

Charles Edward McCorkle was born on August 22, 1852 to William Henry and Virginia Wilson McCorkle. He graduated from Washington College, now Washington and Lee University, in 1871. He died in Richmond, Va. on December 14, 1899 at the age of 47.

Scope and Contents

This collection consists of reports prepared for Charles E. McCorkle between 1867-1870 that document his academic progress. The reports include his average mark, his grade in class, and his whole number in class for different subjects. Four reports are signed by President Robert E. Lee. The others are signed by different Clerks of Faculty (William Dold, E. C. Gordon, and J. M. Leech).
