Accessioned and described by Chandi Singer, Burger Specialist, in December 2009. Artifacts were rehoused and described by Kate Moore, SCRC Staff, in September-December 2009.

All material in the Jean Prendergast collection relates to the pug dog breed. Items include figurines, soft sculptures, chocolate molds, and a Meerschaum cigarette holder. Images of some of the artifacts are available via flickr.

English porcelain Pug dog in standing pose. The dog is hand painted with the red-orange eyes and black pupils typical of pugs of this era. Blue collar with gilded bells. No Manufacturer's marks. Medium sized high fired Bone China male Pug dog in a standing pose. Manufacturer's marks Cutmil Cupie in black ink on the stomach and Beswick England in black ink on the bottom of the each front paw. Medium sized early German porcelain Pug dog in a seated pose. White with black face and tail, orange eyes, and a blue collar with gilded bells. No manugacturers mark. 5 1/4 inches high, 3 1/2 inches long, and 2 1/2 inches deep. Condition: Excellent. No cracks, chips or repairs - only the usual wearing away of much of the gilt from the bells. Medium sized porcelain bisque Pug dog in a seated position. Pug is made in the Victorian style with a brown cat like face, partial stripe down it's back, and brown tail and feet. The blue collar has white and gold studs. No manufacturers mark. 6 inches high and 5 inches wide. Good condition -small crack on bottom. Medium sized pug dog Meissen figurine in a seated pose. Pure white body, collar with bow and bells. Manufacturer's marks; Meissen crossed swords in blue glaze, molder number 76W, and no artist mark. 5 1/2 inches high and 5 inches wide. Nymphenburg white porcelain pug dog laying on a cushion with his head raised in a playful pose. On the bottom of the cushion is the Manufacturer's mark a Nymphenburg shield hallmark is both impressed and printed – along with the word "Nymphenburg". There is a number "704" in the base. Small porcelain fawn pug figurine by Basil Matthews. The pug is seated on a blue cushion with purple flowers. Original label of Basil Matthews is on the felt bottom of base. Imprinted on the bottom of the pug is "Basil Matthews" mark. The pug is 2 inches in height with a base of 1 inch. Good condition, with a small chip under the chin. Male pug dog seated and looking over his shoulder. He has the appearance and coloring of a Meissen Pug- clipped ears, longer snout, white with black muzzle and feet. He also sports the blue collar of most Meissens. Paining of the hair on his face is very detailed. Manufacturer's mark "hand painted in France". Pair to #52. Seated brass male Pug dog with one paw raised. The collar has a ruby colored glass medallion. The dog is siting on a base of etched brass over ebonized wood base with an ivory button. There is a hole on the side for possibly a wind up key. No manufacurer's mark. Pug is 2 1/5 inches high and 3 inches long and the base is 1 inch high and 3 3/4 inches long. Good condition.
