Perry Ellis was born 3 March 1940 in Portsmouth, Virginia. He graduated from the College of William and Mary with a B. A. degree in business administration. He received a M. A. in retailing from New York University. He worked for Miller & Rhoads, John Meyer of Norwich and the Vera Companies. He headed his own company and was noted for design of sportswear. This collection includes material related to fashion designer Perry Ellis including photographs, invitations to his shows, programs from shows, and newspaper clippings concerning his clothing lines. Box 2 is entirely newspapers and news clippings.
