Historical Note:

The Faculty Women's Caucus, established in 1979, evolved from the Women's Equality Association which was established in 1973. The Caucus was created to improve communication among faculty and faculty-equivalent women in the different departments and schools, to identify issues of concern, and to attempt to resolve those issues in a favorable manner.

Scope and Contents

The collection of the Faculty Women's Caucus at the College of William and Mary includes correspondence from 1973-1996 related to women faculty salaries and tenure; maternity leave and childcare; EEO and Affirmative Action; women's athletics, dealing mostly with Title IX, both within the College of William and Mary and the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA); sexual harassment; campus security; the Women's Studies program; and discriminatory findings. Also included are salary survey reports, William and Mary climate studies,  copies of the newsletter Caucus News , event fliers, articles, newspaper clippings, related publications, and other resource material.
