Biographical Information:

Randall S. (Randy) Hawthorne was a student at the College of William and Mary from 1963 to 1967, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He went on to obtain his J.D. in 1970 and a M.L.T. in 1971, both from the College of William and Mary. In 1970, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant, U.S. Army Reserve. After leaving William and Mary, he served in the U.S. Army and eventually worked in a private accounting practice in Williamsburg, Virginia. Hawthorne remained connected to track and field at William and Mary after graduation, creating Track Talk, a newsletter for William and Mary track alumni in 1976, as well as raising funds to benefit the track and field program. In 2008, Hawthorne was awarded the William and Mary Alumni Medallion, given by the William and Mary Alumni Association for his service and dedication to the College. Scope and Contents

This collection contains athletic programs, brochures, photographs, tickets and other material collected by Randall S. Hawthorne, class of 1967, documenting the track and field and cross country programs, and to a lesser extent football at the College of William and Mary. The bulk of the collection consists of track and field programs including the Colonial Relays, Penn Relays, and the Colonial Athletic Association Championships. The collection also includes color and black and white photographs featuring the College of William and Mary men's and women's track and cross country teams. The photographs feature individual shots of runners as well as the team at various meets, including the Colonial Relays and the Colonial Athletic Association Championships. Annual brochures for the track and field and cross country teams at the College, containing information about the team's schedule, roster, and facts about William and Mary athletics, are also part of the collection. The collection also holds track programs from the 1996 Olympics Games in Atlanta and William and Mary football programs from the 1950s and 1960s.

Material is added to the collection on an ongoing basis. Please see Series 3 for additions to the collection that have not been interfiled.
