Collection contains a single letter from Captain Josiah Cowper in Cadiz, Spain to William & Harry Haxall, merchants in Petersburg, Virginia. Cowper provides instructions on how a vessel will deliver goods to Wilmington, North Carolina to avoid the British blockade of U.S. ports during the War of 1812.
