Scope and Contents

A transcription provided by the dealer reads:

Sir

Your order of this day shall be complied with the moment you inform me who to call on to designate the ground my tents are to occupy. I would thank the General also to inform me whether I am to consider myself under his command in the future. The general is no doubt possessed of the knowledge that there are seven Batt[al]ians placed under my care by General [Melancthon Taylor] Woolsey as public property and will therefore direct where they are to be placed, and whether the Artillery Recruits now under my command are also to be removed from the Barracks to the new Encampment or whither I am to keep the command of them at two places so distant from each other. I have directed my Guards, not to stop yours tonight nor in any way to interfere relative thereto.

With respect I am your Most Obt & Verry [sic] Hble Servt,

M Meyers
