Abstract
Group of three manuscript diaries of over 300 total pages, dated 10/27/1861 to 10/6/1862, of Sergeant Joseph Pearson of Company F, 44th Ohio Regiment (Vol 1. 10/27/1861 - 2/10/1862; Vol 2. 2/12/1862 - 5/25/1862; Vol 3. 5/26/1862 - 10/6/1862). Entries are detailed and often list names of soldiers and their assignments; there are listings for sick leave, and guard and picket duty. There is description of action at Lewisburg, Virginia on May 23, 1862. This unit was organized in October, 1861, and moved into West Virginia where it was in operation until September, 1862.
