Abstract
Letters from Jacob Pierpoint of the 19th Indiana Infantry to his father, John J. Pierpoint, of Morgantown, West Virginia,
and unidentified friends from May 1861 to April 1862. Letters are written from Muncie and Camp Morton, Indiana; Washington,
D.C.; and Fort Craig and Manassas, Virginia. Topics include camp life; skirmishes; his feelings about Confederates; reviews;
picket duty; the Ball farm in northern Virginia; and a possible discharge due to wounds to his hand.
