Abstract

Receipts and correspondence appended to blank pages of a volume pertaining to the personal financial accounts of A.L. Pugh, Esquire, Capon Bridge, West Virginia. Includes handwritten and printed receipts dated from March 28, 1885 to November 6, 1886 from various businesses including: Leibrant & McDowell Stove Co., Baltimore, Cooper Bros., Winchester, Va., Coyle Brothers, Carlisle, Pa.; Creighton, Disney & Co., Baltimore, Ott Bros, & Co., Wheeling, W.Va., etc. for various items including: men's, ladies', and children's clothing and accessories (including boots, shoes, etc.), pencils, note paper, books, hardware, foods and spices, medicines, snuff, dyes, oils, lanterns, yarn and cloth goods (silk, flannel, gingham, satin, cotton, etc.) and household items (dishes, pots, pans, cups, washbowls, etc.).
