Abstract
Clippings on the desegregation of schools, giving an account of the school integration controversy and the fight for African American civil rights from 1954 to 1960 in West Virginia and across the country. Articles come from a variety of newspapers, including the Christian Science Monitor , New York Herald Tribune , New York Times , Philadelphia Inquirer , Wall Street Journal , Charleston (W.Va.) Gazette , Wheeling (W.Va.) Intelligencer , Wheeling News-Register , Columbus (Ohio) Star , Richmond (Va.) Afro-American , Richmond Planet , and several papers from Pittsburgh. Magazines include Life, Look, the Saturday Evening Post , Esquire , Holiday, U.S. News and World Report, Time, Newsweek, Crisis, and Cope. Clippings were compiled by Harry H. Jones and are organized in chronological order from 1954 to 1960, not by newspaper or subject. Collection is also available on microfilm.

For Series II: Box 1, 1947-September 1957; Box 2, September 1957-November 1957; Box 3, December 1957-July 1958; Box 4, August 1958-June 1960. Magazine articles are also located in an additional box.
