Scope and Contents

Includes two publications: "The Callaway Journal," vol. xxxi, 2006; and "Descendants of Joseph and Peter Callaway" prepared by The Callaway Family Association, Inc., October 2000. Both of these publications trace the descendants of Joseph and Peter Callaway, who originally settled in Essex Count, Virginia and Somerset County, Maryland, respectively. Eventually the family moved west and inhabited parts of Kentucky, Missouri, and West Virginia. "Descendants of Joseph and Peter Callaway" lists descendants from the late seventeenth century through the eighteenth century. The Journal focuses on present Callaway descendants, including obituaries, annual meeting minutes, and birth and marriage notices, but also includes a genealogical section with selections from various historic documents and a section on DNA analysis.
