Scope and Contents

Obituaries for Michael Hotopp, Charleston, West Virginia native and award-winning theatrical and lighting designer. Also includes a booklet, "The Twelve Days of Michael," which recounts stories and reminiscents by his husband, Sam Viverito.

The addendum of 2023 July 24 includes playbills for two theatrical shows for which Hotopp was scenic or lighting designer ( Funny Girl at the Northstage Theatre Restaurant in Long Island, NY [circa 1970s] and Peter Pan at the Minskoff Theatre in New York, NY [1991 December]).

The addendum of 2024 August 21 includes photographs, set and lighting designs, programs, clippings, and other material regarding Michael Hotopp and his work as a theatrical, lighting, and set designer for theatrical, television, and corporate events, as well as his two companies, Associated Theatrical Design and Hotopp Associates.

The addendum of 2024 December 11 consists of set and lighting designs, mounted photographs, and other material documenting Hotopp's life and career, including an oversized birthday card Hotopp created for his mother.

The addendum of 2025 April 15 consists of a 1994 Sports Emmy Award statuette awarded to Michael Hotopp for Outstanding Production Design / Art Directors for "40 for the Ages," a Sports Illustrated and NBC documentary series.
