This land patent, July 7, 1734, for 1750 acres on Harriss and Beaver creeks in Hanover County, Virginia , was issued to James Watson and signed by William Gooch , lieutenant governor of the Colony of Virginia under the reign of Great Britain's King George II . This document, ca. 54.5 x 36 cm., written on vellum parchment, contains the official seal of the Colony in the shape of a crown.
