[Dreiser responds to Wilkinson's invitation to visit, "You will note that I am not in N.Y. at present. Am writing, literally under the greenwood tree. When I get back, the latter part of this month, shall be only too glad to take advantage of your sea-view some p.m. The land view here is about as charming as anything could be and instead of slang I am learning country patois. Tell Mrs. Wilkinson the question of cooling is not important at present."]
