Acquisition Information

All three items were purchased by the University of Virginia Library from Alexander Autographs, Inc. on July 24, 1997.

Scope and Content Information

This collection consists of a one page autograph letter from John Randolph of Roanoke, March 5, 1805, to Thomas Jefferson, sending him a pamphlet which he had mentioned, and offering his congratulations on the day of Jefferson's second inauguration as President of the United States, all in the third person. The letter is docketed by Jefferson. Also present are two engravings; one of Thomas Jefferson by J.B. Longacre, published by C.S. Williams, New Haven, Connecticut, and the other of John Randolph of Roanoke, by [?] Edwin.
