These photographs were purchased by the University of Virginia Library on February 25, 1998, from Krainik Gallery, Falls Church, Virginia.

Scope and Content Information

This collection contains five undated stereographs of scenes at Fort Monroe, Virginia, near Hampton, including the Commandant's Headquarters, the Catholic Church, the United States Hospital, "The Cottage," and the United States Engineer's Office; plus one [albumin?] print of a churchyard at Portsmouth, Virginia, by A.M. Turner, Photographer. These photographs were taken possibly around the time of the Civil War.
