J.E. Raymond Sermon Ledger, Accession # 11223, Special Collections Dept., University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Va.
The volume was purchased by the University of Virginia Library on February 15, 1996, from Bookworm and Silverfish, Wytheville, Virginia.
This collection consists of one bound volume, a ledger of sermons preached by J.E. Raymond, with the inscription "Record of Sermons, Book I, No. 1 to 1610, August 5, 1877 to December 30, 1889" written on the inside cover in ink. The information is recorded in columns and includes the number of the sermon, date, place, time sermon delivered (morning or evening), book of the Bible, chapter and verse, his text, amount collected, and any remarks. Raymond apparently preached in many states on the east coast but frequently in Virginia, Maryland, and New York, where Raymond was pastor at Carmel Baptist Church in [Mt. Morris], New York, beginning in 1884.
