Biographical/Historical Information

Richard Moale was one of the largest landowners of Baltimore at the time and John Moale was known for his drawing of Baltimore in 1752.

Scope and Content Information

Autograph notes concerning the Richard and John Moale (d. 1798) copy of The Times; A Poem , 1788, by Peter Markoe. These notes were removed from the Moale copy (Barrett PS801.M7T5 1788b) and transferred to the Manuscripts Division.

The notes, in an anonymous [dealer's?] hand, give information on Peter Markoe, the author of the poem, Richard Moale, the Baltimore land owner who figures in the poem as Didius, and John Moale, noted for his 1752 engraving of Baltimore.
