A.R. Pendleton Letters, 1913-1915, Accession #11241, Special Collections Dept., University of Virginia Library, Charlottesville, Va.
Both letters are associated with a mimeographed broadside In Memoriam Major Holmes Conrad copyrighted by the Confederate Veterans Association, Washington, D.C., November 2, 1915, and retained in the Rare Books Division, Special Collections Department, University of Virginia Library. These items were transferred from the Rare Books Division to the Manuscripts Division on June 21, 1996.
This collection consists of two autograph letters from A.R. Pendleton, Winchester, Virginia, to members of the Conrad family. In the earliest letter, June 11, 1913, to [Major Holmes] Conrad, a member of General Thomas L. Rosser's Cavalry Division, Pendleton compliments Conrad on his fine address of the sixth and tells him that many others, more qualified to judge its merits than himself, also appreciated the speech. A.R. Pendleton, Hotel Marseilles, New York City, also writes to Major Conrad's son, Robert Conrad, November 16, 1915, thanking him for a copy of Leigh Robinson's memorial to Major Holmes Conrad. Both letters are associated with a mimeographed broadside In Memoriam Major Holmes Conrad copyrighted by the Confederate Veterans Association, Washington, D.C., November 2, 1915.
