These papers were given to the Library by Mrs. Imogene Bunn on June 18, 1990.

Scope and Content Information

This collection of about twenty items, 1980-1990, all pertain to the religious and civic career of the Rev. Benjamin Bunn (1906-1989) pastor of First Baptist Church of Charlottesville, Virginia, for thirty- six years, and organizer of The Charlottesville Inter-Racial Commission, The Church Council on Human Relations, and the Charlottesville Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

Individual items include: programs for the 36th Anniversary of the Rev. Bunn's ministry at First Baptist Church (1980) and a resolution concerning his retirement (1981), the Virginia Union University Alumni Association Banquet, Benjamin F. Bunn Chapter (1989), and funeral service for the Rev. Bunn (1989); newsclippings concerning the Rev. Bunn as a recipient of the Roy Wilkins Award and obituaries in the Richmond Times-Dispatch and Charlottesville-Albemarle Tribune ; an eulogy for the Rev. Bunn by Richard I. McKinney (1989); an interview with Mrs. Imogene Bunn conducted by Michael Plunkett (1990); and letters from Mayor Francis L. Buck (1985), Allix B. James, Chancellor of Virginia Union University (1989), and two letters concerning the film The Road to Brown (1990).
