Robert Carter Nicholas Letter, 1773, Accession # 10931, Special Collections Dept., University of Virginia Library, Charlottesville, Va.
The letter was purchased by the Library from The Autograph Alcove, Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, on April 4, 1990.
This letter, August 27, 1773, from Robert Carter Nicholas (1728-1780), Williamsburg, Virginia, to "Sir," refers to a land dispute over the dividing line between Nicholas and a Colonel Randolph [possibly John Randolph (1727/28-1784) or Peyton Randolph (1721-1775), brother of "Tazewell Hall," Williamsburg]. The parties have referred the case to a Colonel Jordan, who has surveyed the land. Nicholas requests further research on the matter, and gives instructions concerning the material depositions and affidavits.
