Scope and Content Information

There are two letters, May 10 and n.d., both probably 1948, from Norman Mailer to Theodore S. Amussen, his editor, along with a holograph note bearing only "Theodore S. Amussen/Harcourt Brace & Co.," where Amussen was editor in 1948. The undated holograph letter and note were originally part of the same pink second sheet. In the letter, Mailer advises Amussen to "take a good look at Stan's work," referring to his line work. The typewritten letter, May 10, [1948], sends congratulations for Ted and Ann's newborn, [David], expresses Mailer's gratitude for Amussen's assistance with his book, [ The Naked and the Dead ], and discusses favorably life in Paris, France.
