Rose Cecil O'Neill Papers, 1903, n.d., Accession #10877, Special Collections Dept., University of Virginia Library, Charlottesville, Va.
This collection was transferred to Special Collections on 19 October 1989.
This collection consists of two letters from Rose Cecil O'Neill (1874-1944), the American illustrator and author, to "Dear Ray" (n.d.) and Mrs. Raymond Brown (January 20, 1903). In the letter to Brown, O'Neill thanks her for her letter, mentions the summer plans of her husband, Harry Leon Wilson (1867-1939) and herself for staying at Bellport with the Clarks, describes the progress of Harry with his new book, "a chapter a day with magical regularity," and writes concerning her own illustrative work for Puck and her hopes of progress on her own book.
The O'Neill collection also contains three photographs, one of Western scenery, one of O'Neill and her husband Harry on horseback, and a picture of O'Neill with her invention, the kewpie doll, photographed by Paul Thompson of New York City.
