Peter Hoy of Merton College, Oxford, England, gave these letters to the Library on October 27, 1989.

Scope and Content Information

This addition to the Peter Hoy Collection of literary letters consists of a letter from Marthe Robert, July 17, 1983, in French, discussing translations of Kafka, and two letters from Cid Corman to Hoy, September 16, 1972, and June 25, 1984.

The letters from Corman mention an upcoming exhibition of his own work at the library of Brandeis University, comment in detail concerning the poetry style of the French poet, Francis Ponge, describe the methods used by Corman in translating Ponge's work, mention a possible Origin anthology to include some of Ponge's poetry and the cost of the fifth series of Origin .
