This letter was purchased by the Library from Halvor Americana of Clarendon Hills, Illinois, on December 1, 1988.

Scope and Content Information

In this letter to D.M. Martin, November 19, 1926, F. N[elson] Doubleday of Doubleday, Page & Company, writes concerning a book by [Edna ?] Ferber, possibly Show Boat , which was objectionable to Catholic Church officials in Buffalo, New York. He also mentions that Tom Taggart's threats concerning the same book greatly increased its sales.
