This letter, September 28, 1877, from novelist Samuel Butler, Clifford's Inn, Fleet Street, London, England, to his sister, "May" [Mary Butler], concerns his hard work and includes "an extract from the end of a Portugese grammer and dialogue" [Pedro Carolino's The New Guide of the Conversation in Portugese and English .
