Letter from Annie Dillard to Robie Macauley, n.d., Accession # 10782, Special Collections Dept., University of Virginia Library, Charlottesville, Va.
This letter was purchased by the Library from Bev Chaney, Jr. Books of Ossining, New York, on August 30, 1988.
Annie Dillard, contemporary novelist and author of A Pilgrim At Tinker Creek, writes an undated two page letter to Robie Macauley thanking him for the funny Boston Globe piece about book jacket blurbs and agreeing with him that their purpose must be to "cheer up booksellers." She also mentions her walk on the beach at Old Wharf Point near his place and other personal matters.
