World War I postcards and miscellany, 1917-1918, in the Joseph M. Bruccoli Great War Collection, Accession #10875-f, Special Collections Dept., University of Virginia Library, Charlottesville, Va.
These items were given to the Library on April 2, 1991, by Matthew Bruccoli of Columbia, South Carolina.
This collection consists of five items, ca. 1917-1918, including a letter from a mother to "my dear son," December 17, 1918, with news of neighbors and relatives, especially concerning their impatience with the delay in the discharging of the American soldiers and the purchase of a mattress for the comfort of Uncle Rufus [Turtello?]; a postcard showing "Chow Time"; a sepia photograph of (or to) Peter Minek, of Eyota, Minnesota; a government pamphlet, "Appointment of Officers of Corps of Engineers (1917); and a cover sheet for a certificate of insurance issued by the Bureau of War Risk Insurance.
