These copies were purchased from the College of William and Mary University Archives on August 31, 2000.
This collection consists of the records of Jackson Davis in the College of William and Mary archives, including photographs of the first year class, 1899, the junior class, 1901, Mu Pi Lambda fraternity, the football team, the tennis club, the Phoenix Literary Society, and College instructors as well as a later photograph of Davis at his desk. There are also copies of a page from the Matriculation Book containing his signature; the college catalog for 1896/1897; a list of honors and degrees awarded, 1901; programme of Final Exercises, 1902; selected pages from the yearbook Colonial Echo, 1899, 1901; Board of Visitors minutes mentioning Davis, 1915-1920; letters to J. A. Twyman, 1909-1914; an article by Davis "Observations and impressions of South American," with a particular emphasis on education, 1942; letters, 1943, to Mrs. Lyon G. Tyler re Hampton Institute; and two obituaries, 1947. All items are electrostatic copies or photographs, made from originals in the College of William and Mary Archives.
