This collection was purchased from Maurice F. Neville Rare Books of Santa Barbara, California on January 4, 1989.
This collection contains a manuscript of Bowles's poem, "How Many Midnights," and a letter, 1950 October 8, from Bowles, Tangier, Morocco, to William A. Kraus, regarding his travels and mutual friends from the University of Virginia.
The poem comprises ninety lines of the University of Virginia Cavalier magazine. The manuscript was laid into a copy of the finished magazine which came from the library of William A. Kraus, student editor of the Cavalier at the time.
