Scope and Content Information

This collection contains a manuscript of Bowles's poem, "How Many Midnights," and a letter, 1950 October 8, from Bowles, Tangier, Morocco, to William A. Kraus, regarding his travels and mutual friends from the University of Virginia.

Poem entitled, "How Many Midnights ( A Popular Song)" by Paul Bowles [1931]

AMsS, written in pencil on seven octavo sheets (on the versos of order forms for the Cortelli Silk Mills).

The poem comprises ninety lines of the University of Virginia Cavalier magazine. The manuscript was laid into a copy of the finished magazine which came from the library of William A. Kraus, student editor of the Cavalier at the time.
