This collection was given from Clifton Waller Barrett on April 24, 1970.

Scope and Content Information

In a letter to Miss Phelps (possibly Elizabeth Stuart Phelps Ward), Brooks comments on an upcoming visit to her.

In a later letter to Miss Hall, Brooks gives Hall permission to make free use of the verses to his hymn "O Little Town of Bethlehem," and notes that he is privileged to be in the company of Sears and Lowell.

In a third letter Brooks writes to Miss Hyde, and he notes that his Chautauqua address has gone to press. He also declines an invitation from her due to pressing work obligations.
