Scope and Content Information

This collection consists of a letter with envelope from Paul Bowles, Tangier, Morocco, to Bob Sharrard, City Lights Books, San Francisco, California. He discusses the details of the publication of For Bread Alone by Mohamed Chourkri (1935-), a Moroccan writer of Riffian heritage, in the literary magazine Zyzzyva and suggests he avoid the first chapter of For Bread Alone because it had previously been published in Antaeus ; For Bread Alone was eventually published by City Lights Books. He also discusses the contracts for the books by Mohammed Mrabet (1940-), which involved no advance payment and had nothing to do with William Morris; and when they are republished, Bowles urges Sharrard to deal directly with himself or Mrabet.
