These items were purchased by the Library from Central Virginia Coin & Antique Exchange, 1988 March 23.
The collection consists of 3 items. In a letter, 1889 November 9, Marion Harland (Mary Virginia Terhune), New York City, writes to Mrs. Marble with best wishes on the latter's marriage and discusses circulation of Harland's magazine, The Homemaker . Also included in the collection are an undated photograph of Harland and a paragraph, 1894 October 31, she wrote concerning marriage: "when a man marries a woman who is manifestly his mental superior."
