This collection was given to the library by Tracy W.
McGregor on 1972 January 26.
The collection contains five essays by Whitman: Abraham
Lincoln, 1865; Homer and Shakespeare, 1857; On Samuel Johnson,
1857; On Shakespeare and Ben Jonson, 1850; and Shakespeare and
his sonnets and Edmund Spenser, 1850. Also included are notes
on the Dutch and English traits in his personality, and on his
method of composing Leaves of Grass.
