The Rays, Accession #7750, Special Collections Dept., University of Virginia Library, Charlottesville, Va.
This collection was deposited on 1963 December 17.
The Rays was written by an unknown [woman ?] author. It is a domestic, moral tale about the Ray Family and its five children set in a small village [in Pennsylvania ?], showing the influence of Louisa May Alcott. The mention of tintypes would date it ca. 1860-1880. The number of misspelled words indicate that the writer was not an academic. Illustrated with delicate pen and ink drawings at beginnings and ends of chapters. The second version is pasted on pages of the first.
