Letters of Julian Hawthorne, Accession #7694-f, Special Collections Dept., University of Virginia Library, Charlottesville, Va.
This collection was purchased on 1989 April 20.
This collection contains two letters, 1908 and 1912. In a two-page typed letter, dated October 1, 1908, Julian Hawthorne wrote to Dr. T.F. Wolfe promoting the sale of stock for his Canadian mining venture at Temagami, Ontario, Canada, a scheme for which he was later convicted of misusing the mails. A note by Dr. Wolfe on February 6, 1912, to ____ explained the letter (above) from Hawthorne, "It was for the sending of this letter and others like it that Julian Hawthorne ... was recently indicted by the New York Grand Jury."
