Letter to Julia Neely Finch, Accession #7641-i , Special Collections Dept., University of Virginia Library, Charlottesville, Va.
This collection was purchased from Jerry N. Showalter, Ivy, Virginia, on September 27, 1993.
Margaret Deland (1957-1945), on stationary "Chateau Lake Louise/Laggan, Alta., Canada" writes to Mrs. Julia Neely Finch, musician and composer of Birmingham, Alabama, at Pomfret Centre, Connecticut, acknowledging her kind letter and writing that "it is a great help and comfort to know that anything I have written, has helped or comforted any one else . . ."
Pomfret, Connecticut developed a literary atmosphere early in its existence. In the late 1890s and later, Pomfret entertained the most distinguished summer clientele in the state. Information on Pomfret may be found in The Yankees of Connecticut by W. Storrs Lee.
