Hutchins Family Papers, Accession # 7303-a, Special Collections Dept., University of Virginia Library, Charlottesville, Va.
The Hutchins Papers were given to the Library by Miss Elizabeth B. Brockenbrough and Miss Rebecca Brockenbrough of Richmond, Virginia, on October 2, 1963.
Clara was married to Stilson Hutchins. Stilson was born in Whitfield, N.H. on November 14, 1838, and graduated from Harvard University. He founded the Dubuque Herald in Iowa, the St. Louis Times in Missouri (1866), and the Washington Post in Washinton, D.C. (1877). Stilson also co-authored a book called The National Capital, Past and Present .
This collection contains ca. 750 documents (2 Hollinger boxes), 1880-1941, and consists of correspondence, chiefly letters to Clara Hutchins, receipts, and miscellaneous items.
