Scope and Content Information

This collection contains a letter from Hervey Allen, Poughkeepsie, New York, on letterhead "HERVEY ALLEN/The receipt of fernseed for persons from Porlock" to Henry Seidel Canby (1878-1861), editor of Saturday Review Literature, agreeing to review Amy Lowell's latest book of poetry [ East Wind ?] and accepting the offer of joining the staff of Saturday Review. He mentions two articles in progress, one on DuBose Heyward [for his novel Angel ?] and one "on a book of negro folk- lore" [ Tall Tales of the Kentucky Mountains by Percy MacKaye?] and having a talk with Ellen Glasgow about 'Southern Literature.'

This letter was removed from Hervey Allen's Anthony Adverse in the Rare Book Division Barrett PS3501 .L5A5 1933a.
