Richard Harding Davis Collection, Accession # 6109-v, Special Collections Dept., University of Virginia Library, Charlottesville, Va.
This holding was acquired by purchase on June 14, 1999 and August 8, 2000.
In this letter to Mrs. C. G. Macmillen, Richard Harding Davis (writing on the letterhead of Frank A. Munsey Company, New York, NY) teases Mrs. Macmillen for the difficulty of corresponding with her while she is traveling in Austria, and asks her to critique "the Passion Play." He laments having found the stories submitted by Mrs. Petrie unsuitable, and he mentions the recent death of O. Henry (with a commentary on his character), "Uncle Joe," the impending visit of Theodore Roosevelt, and Joe Webber, who "is still looking for a star for The Climax ."
