Scope and Content Information

In this collection of letters, F. Marion Crawford, Villa Crawford, Sant' Agnello Di Sorrento, writes to "My dear Lord Ronald" on November 29, 1894, and invites him to dinner on Saturday evening because "I am working very hard to finish a piece of writing before Christmas, and am obliged to go to bed every night, except Saturday, at half past nine, in order to get up at six and make a long day. My holiday - Jewish fashion - begins on the evening before rest day"; and hopes he will be able to come since "I myself shall enjoy your good company far more than if I were obliged to bite a ragged scrap out of work time, & run away with it, dog-like, and consume it on the sly in the corner."

Also included is a one-page letter, December 21, 1901, from Crawford to T. Lloyd Thomas, Secretary, Nineteenth Century Club saying he cannot accept their kind invitation because he expects to sail for Europe before the proposed date.
