Scope and Content Information

This collection contains two letters of Francis Marion Crawford. In the first, dated 1894 August 31, Crawford writes a two-page letter (on 1 l.) from Schoneck bei Beckenried, Switzerland, to Ellis D. Robb, a new author attempting to be published, relating "the story of the article which remained on the shelf," and advising him, after each refusal, "to read a volume of some good author carefully, and then try again."

In the second letter, 1905 July 24, Crawford, Villa Crawford, Sant' Agnello di Sorrento, writes a 3 page (1 l.) letter to Mr. Colles, directing him to obtain payment for the Gentlewoman from Messrs. Macmillan and discussing his publishing matters in America.
