Postcard from R.D. Blackmore to Mrs. Hope-Hume, Accession #5257-ay, Special Collections Dept., University of Virginia Library, Charlottesville, Va.
This note was purchased by the University of Virginia Library on November 29, 1996, from Clive Farahar & Sophie Dupre, Wiltshire, England.
This addition to the R.D. Blackmore Collection consists of an autograph note signed by Blackmore, March 27, 1898, to [Mrs.?] Hope-Hume, thanking her for her kind inquiries and good wishes. He continues, "of course, I am not offended by your exhortations, but wish heartily that I could see things as you do, for it makes all the difference in one's prospects. Unluckily to discuss the matter is quite useless. -- In fact it only does a great deal of harm, by setting up the adverse argument."
